A while ago, Freya and Mats published part one of this beloved review series. Now, Matei and Youri W wrote the long-awaited sequel, part two! Now with at least 100% more English. Do enjoy! (Hurt feelings can be fixed by getting the new(!) Lapsang teas at the attic.)
Arctic Monkeys – My Propeller, by Patrik
Youri: Was kinda bored by this song until like halfway through where they all of the sudden switch up the song and make it more interesting. Kinda leaves me wondering why the first half had to be the way that it is tho. 5 propellers out of 10.
Matei: I was just about to say that 16 year old me loved this album, but damn does this song drag on. Youri was dead on. Just be angsty quicker. 3/10.
Matroda – Walk In The Spot, by Romanian Alex (not my words)
Youri: It feels like the artist just put every generic thing he could think together and made it a song, not for me. 2/10.
Matei: I guess it would be really hot at a party. Nvm i just heard the drop and i hated it. Oh god it’s LMFAO as well, i just hate it. 0/10
Johnny Cash – The Mercy Seat, by Loek
Youri: This feels a bit like listening to your demented grandpa telling a rivoting story, he often gets sidetracked and repeats stuff already said but you’re just happy to be listening. 7 eyes out of 10 teeth.
Matei: This feels like going on a long car trip and hearing random old cds that you don’t really like but it’s a good enough vibe. Maybe I’’d enjoy this more if I was a dad. 6/10
Axwell – On My Way, by Nate
Youri: This song feels like it comes out of the era of good Avicii music. Except it’s not Avicii so it’s not that good. not bad, but not that good. 5/10
Matei: I do not like this, they somehow made EDM more boring. I mean it’s kinda nice but just boring, I’m sorry Nate 3/10
Kalya Scintilla – Gaia’s Garden, by Tristan
Youri: This song gives off Lion King vibes except that all the animals are in a cult and are trying to sacrifice you for their alien overlords. That or like some puzzle level in banjo-kazooie. One of the two for sure tho. 6 sacrifices out of 10.
Matei: Ok jungle disco, this is what I imagine Baloo dances to when he’s high with tigers or snakes. But sadly I’m not Baloo and I’ve never been to a jungle so this doesn’t really do anything for me. Cool monkey noises tho. 4/10
Third Eye Blind – Semi-Charmed Life, by Emma
Youri: This sounds like one of those generic back to school songs but it’s actually pretty good the whole way through somehow.I just hope the tututu doesn’t get stuck in my head. O goddammit it already is. 7 tututu’s out of 10.
Matei: Yeah this is exactly the type of music that’s used for filming 5 characters all getting ready and dressed up to go on the school bus and roll some generic. I love the tutu, i don’t care much about his rapping though. 6/10
Mother Funk – Sunshine, by Pia
Youri: My Chemical RoGoddamn I love the sun. I wish I could just own it or something. 8 suns out of 10.
Matei: Damn this is absolutely beautiful, I don’t really have any words. Just peaceful and calm and lovely 9/10
The Strokes – Last Nite, by Jos
Youri: Classic through and through. I’ve listened too much to this song to look at it from an unbiased point of view but I’ve also heard it too many times to give it a ten. 9 strokes out of 10.
Matei: Bias is a fake word. When Mr casablanca cracks his voice whenever he says last night. And the whole distorted recording. Unnnhhh so good. 9/10
