Hello dear Koornbeurs friends. I feel like I’ve done some more serious articles recently, and I’d like to return to my silly roots, so I’m going to be reviewing a bunch of colours. This will mostly be me yapping a bit about some opinions and nice memories I have, so I hope it will be a cozy read. I will be using the Pantone color chart as a reference, even though Nino said that I was securing the Pantone mafia empire.
Starting off strong with my favorite colour: Pantone 2061, also known as ‘Hot Coral’. I very much recommend having a highly specific favorite colour, especially this one. I love both orange and pink because they’re very cheerful and warm to me, which is kind of all I want to be as a human. It also reminds me of the beautiful sunsets I used to see much more often when I still lived with my parents.
God I love a good dandelion yellow. I love dandelions in general, it’s a very underappreciated flower to me. Next time you see one, be sure to take a second to experience how beautiful they are, both their color and shape, and how lucky we are that they are as common as they are.
Many of the things I knit are some type of brick red with some type of warm white. That is just such a cosy colour combination to me. You might have noticed by now that I gravitate a lot to warm tones, and brick red is great because it is very warm but also calm. This colour makes me want to curl up under a blanket with a cup of tea.
I am navy blue’s #1 hater. Fuck this colour. Blue to me is the colour of sad, and then navy blue is the most boring version of this. It’s giving: nothing. It’s giving: I could not commit to just liking black. If this is your favorite color I will fight you in the parking lot and I will win because no one who likes this colour can do anything useful.
Now that I got that out of my system, one blue that I do like is electric or sky blue. This is the least boring blue to me. I love looking at the sky. I think people in general should look up more, it’s always nice to look at the clouds and just breathe for a second.
Forest green is not a colour I gravitate towards naturally, but it reminds me so deeply of my best friend that I cannot help but be fond of it. It just makes me think of walking around with her and pointing at trees and listening to her explain what they are, even if I can never remember.
Brown is another colour that reminds me of my best friend, but I’ve also recently come to really appreciate it as a basis colour that is not black or white. Everything goes with brown (except maybe orange). Especially brown in combination with a light blue is another one of my favorite colour combinations.
I used to love pink, then I had a long period of being #notlikeothergirls and now I love both pink and other girls. I am not ashamed to admit I cried at the barbie movie. I sometimes like to think about what previous versions of me would have thought about who I am now, and I like to think that child me would love that I make everything I can bright pink.
That’s it for now. I might do a part two of this if people like it, so please ask me about specific colours, I love talking about them. Drink some water, look at the sky, and see you on Wednesday.
