My flat, My home

By Lilly

Home never truly felt like home, I only feel now what was missing.
All I needed was some space, a balcony and a joint.
The trees fill me with comfort, the other flats shape a nice contrast,
and the sun wishes me goodnight.
I know my parents want their home to be mine so deeply but I hope they will also find,
that that can never be.
and sometimes too I wonder, if it was hers at all.

Reading Maya’s poetry has been really inspiring to me and although I don’t think anything I write will ever feel “good enough” to myself, I would like to start sharing more little pieces that I wrote. I write these all down in my own personal little notebook and I’ll try to always include a copy of the original, but sometimes my handwriting is a little tricky to read (at least they often have a little silly drawing that I drew after writing).
